Free Impact Career Chats in Troubling times + Great Opps, PCDN Weekly Newsletter, Feb. 4, 2025

In partnership with

Starting a series of free Career Open Office Hours - Chats for the Impact Sector.

Our first one will be this Thursday at 10am est.

We know times are tough—and unfortunately, they may get even tougher for many in the social impact sector, particularly those in development and humanitarian relief.

The devastating and intentional cuts by the Trump administration are already having a massive impact, affecting millions worldwide and putting thousands of jobs at risk in USAID-supported projects. It is horrific to see this taking place (of course it is deliberate) and may we all work towards a world and systems that put people and planet first.

At PCDN.Global, we want to help in a small but meaningful way.

We’re organizing a series of free, open career chats to support those navigating career uncertainty. Whether you're looking for impact career advice, insights on pivoting to different sectors, resume or AI guidance , or tips for upskilling on a budget, these sessions will provide practical guidance.

We've done this before in the heart of Covid we organized two global impact career popups with dozens of partners from around the globe and we've been hosting events, workshops, and our Social Change Career Podcast (entering season 14 this week) for years.

No one has all the answers in this chaotic time.

For many, this will be a difficult period for  landing the next role, or securing consulting work. But by working together, we can share strategies, key resources, opportunities, and insights on how to pivot, upskill, and deal with this insanity.

Apply Now: Fully funded Rotary Peace Fellowships for Master’s degree and Professional Development Certificate programs

Application deadline 15 May

As a leading humanitarian service organization, Rotary International promotes peace locally and globally as part of its mission. The Rotary Peace Fellowship program offers fully funded master’s degrees and advanced professional development certificate programs in disciplines related to peace and development studies.

Every year, up to 130 individuals are selected to receive a generous award from The Rotary Foundation that funds tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and internship and field-study expenses through one of the Rotary Peace Centers located at leading universities around the world. Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the capacity of fellows to become effective catalysts for peace.

Rotary is looking for peace and development professionals from across the globe with relevant experience and a record of prior achievements in peacebuilding. Our candidates demonstrate their potential for future growth and impact as leaders in the field.

Fellowship components:

· Master’s degree fellows study peace and development issues with research-informed teaching and a diverse student body.

The program includes a two- to three-month field study experience to develop practical skills and career connections. Workshops and field trips develop professional skills in peacebuilding and expand civic and cultural perspectives. Fellows present their master’s research at a final seminar prior to graduation.

·       A one-year Professional Development Certificate for working professionals blends classroom learning, trainings, and field visits with an independent social change project.

After 10 weeks of onsite coursework and activities, fellows return to their communities to implement a nine-month social change initiative they are passionate about, with the support of mentors and interactive online sessions. They return to campus to present the results and impact of their initiatives at a capstone conference.
